2004 Emmy Nominated: Lead Actor, Something the Lord Made

Born to Irish and Welsh parents, Rickman attended the Royal College of Art with a mind to becoming graphic artist when he was awarded a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He spent three yearsr there, honing his new craft before starting out in the theatrical version of "Dangerous Liasons." His big break - and first major film - came when he was cast as Hans Gruber in "Die Hard" alongside Brusce Willis, and despite a long continuing film career he has oftentimes passed up movie roles in favour of the theatre.

Alan Rickman is nominated for 2004's Outstanding Lead Actor In A Mini Series or Movie for his role on HBO's "Something the Lord Made."
