Angela Lansbury

2004 Emmy Nominated: Supporting Actress, the blackwater lightship

Though "Murder, She Wrote" has long been a staple of American television, Ms. Lansburyis actually British by birth, having moved to the States to study acting when she was still a teenager, just after World War II broke out. She was soon contracted by MGM, and her first feature film, Gaslight, garnered her an Academy Award nomination; two movies later she was nominated again for her role in The Picture of Dorian Gray. Since then she has enjoyed a long and busy career in film, television and on the stage, winning 4 Tony awards in 16 years. But of course, it was her role as Jessica Fletcher on "Murder, She Wrote" that brought her the greatest fame and fan base, and consistent - almost yearly - Emmy nominations. It's just too bad that while she may have been writing murder, she apparently was reading Susan Lucci's book about never quite winning that Emmy, no matter how many nominations are under your belt.

Angela Lansbury is nominated for 2004's Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Mini Series or Movie for her role on CBS's "The Blackwater Lightship."
