Camryn Manheim's free spirited determination to live life on her own terms permeates her career. She was born Debra Frances Manheim, but she changed her name to Camryn when was twenty years old. When she was sixteen years old she became interested in acting while working at a local Renaissance Fair. In 1987 she earned a Master's Degree in Fine Arts from New York University. She won an Emmy for her role on the "The Practice" and proclaimed in her acceptance speech "This is for all the big girls!" In 1995 she wrote an autobiography Wake Up, I'm Fat! She went on to perform an off broadway one woman show of the same name. Camryn is a human rights activist, working mainly for both women and gay rights. Currently, she continues her work on "The Practice."

Camryn Manheim is nominated for 2005's Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Miniseries Or A Movie for her work as Gladys Presley in CBS's "Elvis."
