Christopher Plummer

2005 Emmy Nominated: Supporting Actor, Our Fathers

Christopher Plummer was born Arthur Christopher Orme Plummer on Dec 13, 1927, the great grandson of former Canadian Prime Minister Sir John Abbott. Growing up he was the schoolmate of jazz great Oscar Peterson, and later in the Montreal theatre he worked with the young William Shatner. He and Shatner also worked together in Star Trek VI, "The Voyage Home." Plummer is well remembered for his role in the 1965 "The Sound of Music," though he is supposed to have called the film "The Sound of Mucus." In 1968, he was made a companion of the Order of Canada. He's acted in numerous movies, TV shows, and theatre productions, and has been given an honorary doctorate by New York's Julliard School. Recently he has appeared in "National Treasure," "Ararat" and the TV mini series "Nuremberg."

Plummer is nominated for 2005's Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie for his performance as Cardinal Bernard Law in Showtime's "Our Fathers."
