Cloris Leachman
2006 Emmy Nomination: Supporting Actress in a Movie
Cloris Leachman has won numerous awards during her lengthy career, including an Oscar for 1971's The Last Picture Show. During this period of time, Leachman was appearing on the Mary Tyler Moore Show, making her the first performer to win an Oscar while appearing on a TV series.
During the career, she has been nominated over 20 times for her television work. The most notable of these nominations was for her character Phyllis Lindstrom on Mary Tyler Moore. In 1986 she returned to TV with her role as Edna Garrett's sister Beverly Ann Stickle on the popular sitcom The Facts Of Life.
Leachman's performance alongside Sir Ben Kingsley and Annette Bening in the 2006 HBO special Mrs. Harris has earned her an Emmy nomination for Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie.
