2003 Emmy Nominated: Supporting Actor, frasier
When Pierce was awarded the Yaddo Medal for Best Dramatic
Arts Student on his graduation from college, everyone knew that stardom
was in his future. He went on to study England and Theatre Arts at Yale
alongside Jodie Foster; when Foster was casting for her 1991 movie Little
Man Tate, Pierce leapt to mind and she contacted him to offer him
a part. One can assume this was a welcome change from selling ties at
Macy's. The same thing happened when "Frasier" was being cast:
producers noticed his resemblance to the star, Kelsey
Grammer, and asked him to come in for an interview. He walked out
of that interview as a brand new character on the show, written specificially
for him.
