Ed Harris

2005 Emmy Nominated: Lead Actor, Empire Falls

"As soon as I went on stage, I wanted to do nothing else with my life but act. I always liked the attention that playing sports had brought, but acting fulfilled that need even better." -Ed Harris

Edward Allen Harris was born on 28 November 1950 in New Jersey. He was a first class athlete growing up and attended Columbia University on a football scholarship. In Oklahoma he felt the call of acting, and began working on the stage and studying theatre. Harris' first major role was that of a killer in "Borderline," a film he worked on with Charles Bronson. He has received Oscar nominations for his work in "Apollo 13," "The Truman Show," and "Pollock."

Ed Harris is nominated for 2005's Outstanding Lead Actor In A Mini Series Or A Movie for his portrayal of Miles Roby in HBO's "Empire Falls."
