Born on Nov 13, 1953 in Monroe, Georgia, of Irish and Latvian heritage, Frances Conroy was raised on Long Island, New York She joined a New York theatre company in her twenties, and continues to act on Broadway in addition to her film and television work. She won a Tony Award nomination for her performance in the wildly successful Broadway production "The Ride Down Mt. Morgan." She was also considered for a Razzie nomination for her performance in Catwoman.
Frances is nominated for 2005's Oustanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series for her performance in the role of Ruth Fisher on HBO's "Six Feet Under."
