2006 Emmy Nominated: Lead Actress, Commander In Chief

Geena Davis was born on the 21st January, 1956. She is a former fashion model as well as an Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominated actress.

Throughout her education, Geena showed a remarkable ability for the arts. She began by learning the piano, the flute and the drums. She went on to attend New England College, and then eventually graduating with a bachelor’s degree in drama from Boston University in 1979. She even learnt to speak Swedish while on exchange.

Her career began in the early 80s, when director Sydney Pollack saw and cast her in “Tootsie.” From there she moved on to other roles in “The Fly” and “Beetlejuice.” Her performance in “The Accidental Tourist” earned her an Oscar, and she received an oscar nomination for “Thelma and Louise.”

She has most recently been working on “Commander In Chief.” The show focuses on the trials of the United State’s first female president. Her performance in the now cancelled series earned her an Emmy nomination.
