Gandolfini began his acting career in the New York Theater, and starred alonside Alec Baldwin and Jessica Lange in "A Streetcar Named Desire." His breakthrough role was in True Romance, in which he portrayed the hitman Virgil. Despite his sometimes terrifying onscreen personas, Gandolfini actually refers to himself as a "260 pound Woody Allen" off screen.
