Jane Alexander was born on October 28 1939 in Boston. After
studying at Sarah Lawrence College and the University of Edinburgh she
made her Broadway debut in the 1969 production "The Great White Hope."
She won a Tony for her role and later repeated the role in the film version
of the production, gaining an Oscar nomination for her work. She later
appeared in two acclaimed TV dramas, "Eleanor and Franklin," and "Eleanor
and Franklin: The White House Years." She is a dedicated political activist,
and works energetically to conserve wildlife, to promote human wellness,
and to foster the development of world peace through nuclear disbarment.
Jane Alexander is nominated for 2005's Outstanding Supporting
Actress In A Mini Series Or A Movie for the role of Sarah Roosevelt in
HBO's "Warm Springs."
