Jay Leno

2005 Emmy Nominated: Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program, The Tonight Show With Jay Leno

"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime. Teach a man to create an artificial shortage of fish and he will eat steak." -Jay Leno

Jay Leno was born on April 28 1950 in New Rochelle, New York. Jay started his career working three hundred nights a year in small nightclubs. He appeared in several films and television shows as an actor, but it was his genius as a comic and an interviewer that lead him to achieve a tremendous level of success with "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" in 1992. Prior to getting his own show he made countless appearances on various late night TV shows and became Johnny Carson's permanent guest host. Though there was some animosity between him and David Letterman over Leno's succession of Carson on the tonight show, Jay Leno's career continues to soar. He has announced that he will retire from the Tonight Show in 2009.

Jay Leno is nominated for 2005's Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program for "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on NBC.
