Jon Leibowitz was born in New York City on Nov 28 1962, but soon moved to Lawrenceville New Jersey. He studied at the College of William and Mary, and played soccer there. To this day the team still gives out an award called the "Liebo" to the funniest member of the team. When he went into show business, he took the name Stewart because Leibowitz sounded "too Hollywood." John Stewart and his wife both legally changed their name to Stewart when they were married.
