Jonathan Rhys Meyers

2005 Emmy Nominated: Lead Actor, Elvis

"Being an actor is the easiest job. Just say the lines." -Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Jonathan Rhys Meyers was born with the name Jonathan Michael Francis O'Keeffe on July 27, 1977 in Dublin Ireland. Born with a heart condition, his family hurried to get him baptized because they didn't expect him to live long. His family moved to County Cork, and at the age of three, his father left the family. He was permanently suspended from school at the age of 16, and began hanging out in pool halls. There he was discovered by casting agents, and eventually was given parts in soup commercials. Soon after, Jonathan Rhys Meyers played the roll of an assassin in "Michael Collins." Jonathan's career quickly took off from there. When he starting acting, he took his mother's maiden name of "Meyers." He has since appeared in such films as "Vanity Fair" "The Emperor's Wife" and "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead." Currently he is working on "Mission Impossible Three."

Meyers is nominated for 2005's Outstanding Lead Actor In A Mini Series Or A Movie for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in CBS's "Elvis."
