Kathy Bates

2005 Emmy Nominated: Supporting Actress, Warm Springs

"The Oscar changed everything. Better salary, working with better people, better projects, more exposure, less privacy." -Kathy Bates

Katherine Doyle Bates was born on June 28 1948, in Memphis Tennessee. She majored in theatre at Southern Methodist University. She has appeared in such films as "Fried Green Tomatoes" and "About Schmidt." Though the role of Frankie in "Frankie and Johnny" was written for her, she was passed over in favor of the younger, thinner, and more attractive Michelle Pfeiffer. However, that disappointment turned into a blessing in disguise, and she won an Oscar for the role in "Misery" which she took instead of Frankie.

Kathy is nominated for 2005's Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Mini Series Or A Movie for her role as Helena Mahoney on HBO's "Warm Springs."
