2003 Emmy Nominated: Leading actress, My House In Umbria

Dame Margaret Natalie Smith Cross was born in Ilford, Essex on December 28, 1934, and is better known as Maggie Smith. She has received numerous honours throughout her career, culminating in a DBE (Dame ordership) in 1990 at age 56. She started her career at the Oxford Playhouse Theatre, and first appeared on the movie screen in 1956.

Her role in "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" won her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1969. She was also awarded the 1978 Academy Award for Best Supporting Female Actress for her role in "California Suite".

Maggie Smith is nominated for her leading role in the HBO movie "My House In Umbria".
