Philip Seymour Hoffman

2005 Emmy Nominated: Supporting Actor, Empire Falls

"Success isn't what makes you happy. It really isn't. Success is doing what makes you happy and doing good work and hopefully having a fruitful life. If I've felt like I've done good work, that makes me happy. The success part of it is all gravy." -Philip Seymour Hoffman

Philip Seymour Hoffman was born on July 27 1967 in Fairport, New York, and grew up in upstate New York near Rochester. He moved to NYC and had trouble holding down a job, acting or otherwise, until he landed a role in "The Scent of a Woman." It was his fourth film project, but it was the first film that catapulted him to success. Philip has since appeared in "Magnolia," "Cold Mountain" and "Along Came Polly."

Hoffman is nominated for 2005's Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Mini Series Or A Movie for his work as CB Whiting/Charlie Mayne in HBO's "Empire Falls."
