Robert Carlyle

2006 Emmy Nomination: Supporting Actor in a Movie

Robert Carlyle is the champion of scottish and english indy film, but several of his roles have crossed over and earned him popular praise as well. Two roles in particular helped cement Carlyle in the public consciousness. The first was his role as the psychotic Francis Begbie in Trainspotting. The second as Gaz, leader of a troop of down and out steel workers in Sheffield, England, who turn to male stripping to earn a living in The Full Monty.

Other memorable roles included the villain Renard in the James Bond film The World Is Not Enough, a cannibalistic Mexican-American War soldier in Ravenous, and as Hitler in Hitler: The Rise of Evil.
