Robin Williams

2003 Emmy Nominated: Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program, Robin Williams: Live on Broadway

Born July 21, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois. Williams spent his childhood years in Chicago and Bloomfield. Williams dropped out of his political science studies at Claremont Men's College in laremont, California, to begin studying drama at the Juilliard School in New York City.

Williams had a lot of success in standup, but when he landed a guest role on Happy Days as Mork, his TV career took off. He was soon co-star of the Happy Days spinoff, Mork and Mindy. His film career got off to a somewhat slower start, but in 1987, Williams made the leap to the Hollywood A-list with his Oscar-nominated performance in Good Morning, Vietnam. Williams earned his second Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in 1989, for his performance as John Keating, the inspirational prep-school teacher at the heart of Dead Poets Society. He finally won his first Academy Award for his role in the critically acclaimed move Good Will Hunting, with Matt Damon and Ben Afflek.

Robin Williams is nominated for 2003's Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Special for his performance in Robin Williams: Live On Broadway (HBO)
