2006 Emmy Nominated: Lead Actor in Comedy, The Office

Steve Carell is best known for his film work and his television role on NBC’s “The Office.” He was born in Acton, Massachusetts in 1963.

His comedy career began in the 90s. He had a brief stint on “The Dana Carvey Show” as well as doing some voice acting for “Saturday Night Live.” In 1999, he became a correspondent on “The Daily Show” for Comedy Central, working with both Stephen Colbert and John Daily.

He has recently been successful in films such as “Anchorman” and “The 40-Year Old Virgin.” After his films increased his popularity, “The Office” became a ratings success. It was for his role as “Michael Scott” in “The Office” that Carell would win a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

He has two children, born in 2001 and 2004 and has been married to his wife, Nancy Walls, since 1995.
